A Message from Mr. Sobczak

Greeting Huron Academy Families,

In what seems to be the blink of an eye, we find ourselves in the month of June with only a handful of school days remaining. Each day seems busier than ever, with end-of-quarter assignments and projects due, picnics and awards ceremonies for the various clubs and sports teams, graduation parties, and the juggling of it all with everything from yard work to family events sprinkled in. Hang in there, parents!

In the coming days, you will receive an NWEA Parent Report, which serves as an overview of your child’s progress on this national assessment. Remember, these results are a snapshot only – some students perform better than normal on test days, others worse, and everything in between. At a minimum, it will provide you with good information on areas to focus on for next year, and serve as an opportunity to have a discussion with your child about their academic strengths and weaknesses.

While summer vacation should be enjoyed, there are always ways to enjoy it while keeping our kids learning. From summer book clubs to museum visits to online games, there are plenty of options to ensure that the break is fun while also educational, and doing so lays the foundation for a successful upcoming school year.

My first year in this role has been informative and inspiring, and I thank all of you that reached out with advice, ideas, concerns, or simple encouragement. Communication is important to our school community, so if you have any questions or issues during the summer months, please continue to reach out to myself or anybody else on the team via email or phone call.
