Mr. Rakowski
Music Teacher
Hello! My name is Casey Rakowski and I am excited to be a part of the Huron Academy staff teaching Third-Eighth Grade Music, Band and Choir. I have been an educator since 2001 and graduated from Michigan State University with a Bachelor of Music in Music Education and from Saginaw Valley State University with a Master of Education in Educational Leadership. I hold both a Michigan Teaching Certificate in K-12 Music Education and a Michigan School Administrators Certificate in K-12 Principalship. Throughout my career I have taught Preschool and Elementary General Music, Elementary Band, Elementary Choir, Elementary Orchestra, Middle School Band, Middle School Choir, High School Concert Band, High School Marching Band in addition to being a Principal and Assistant Principal.
I currently perform throughout Metro Detroit on my main instrument, the tuba. I currently perform in the Redford Civic Symphony Orchestra as principal tuba, the Warren Concert Band as tuba section leader and the Peace Jubilee Brass Band. Previously, I have performed with the North of Canada Brass Quintet and the Motor City Brass Band. In addition to tuba, I also play electric bass in the St. Paul Lutheran Church (Grosse Pointe) Jubilate Ensemble, and am Director of the Handbell Choir at St. Paul.
In my free time I love to spend time with my wonderful family, practice my various instruments, bike, walk, camp, and read. Our family stays fairly busy since my wife is also a teacher and my son and daughter are both in band playing percussion and trombone.
Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions or concerns.
