Volume 3, Issue 1
Huron Academy Families,
It’s hard to believe that in a few short days, we’ll be back to alarm clocks, backpacks, rushing out the door while hoping the coffee doesn’t spill in the car! I hope you all had a wonderful summer break, but I’m extremely excited for this school year. The 24-25 school year is shaping up to be a memorable one. Our PTC Kickoff event was the largest ever, and the energy and excitement for another year at Huron Academy was in the air and palpable. From new extracurricular activities to the implementation of the house system, our staff has worked tirelessly all summer to ensure an incredible school year.
There are some staffing changes you may have noticed at our open house events, including new teachers or familiar faces in new roles (such as Mr. Trammell now serving as Dean of Students); most notably, Mrs. Paprocki (formerly Jagot, our Middle School lead) will now be serving as our Assistant Principal and lead admin at our Metro campus.
While this time of year is always exciting (September and October are the two best months of the year in my opinion!), I caution all of our families to practice patience and kindness during these first few weeks. Lots of new initiatives take time to be fully implemented (you’ve seen my previous memo about uniforms, for instance). Kids take some time to get used to new routines, and frankly so do us parents. Additionally, while we’ve worked hard to revamp our parking lot protocols, it always takes time to get back into the swing of things, to say nothing of new families that are unfamiliar with many of our processes that we’re accustomed to.
In short, when you’re stuck in the parking lot for what seems like an eternity, remember by week 2 or 3 you’ll be flying through; if the new uniform shirt you ordered isn’t here by day one, remember that staff is aware and no penalizations will occur; and when you step foot (or drive) onto our campuses, you are part of our family, and we’re all here to work together for the same common goal: nurturing and educating our young men and women in order to achieve the greatness that they’re all capable of.
I look forward to working with you this school year.
Sincerely,
Joshua Sobczak,
Superintendent
