In Kindergarten your child will focus on English language arts and literacy skills as they learn about the alphabet, building words, letter sounds, and writing. We’ll also be building the foundation for mathematics learning as they engage in counting, adding and subtracting activities. In addition to the fundamental concepts, children will learn about listening to others, speaking clearly to express their own thoughts, ideas and feelings, and asking and answering questions. Kindergartners participate in art and music programs weekly and will be introduced to our smart character program.
Huron Academy also offers Transitional Kindergarten (TK). This is the first year of a two-year kindergarten experience giving children the gift of time to develop the skills that will prepare them to be successful lifelong learners. Children who turn 5 years old between Sept. 1 and Dec. 1 are automatically eligible for this program.
